A long-awaited interview with Giles, no wait Nick, or was it Giles, nope sure it was Nick from Bremonnnnn…..(silent-t)
We were in Chisholm Hunter in Edinburgh, home from home for the Scottish Watches Podcast for a Bremont event with their Ambassador Brian Wood and also the new H-4, but Adrian from Bark and Jack was nowhere to be seen….secret watch Club eehh.
We talk all things from the History of the Brands name and Company formation to Nicks view on the Swiss watch industry and cooperation within the British Watch industry.
We also speak about the whole “in-house” movement debacle and the absolutely inhouse movement due in 2020. Nick shares his view that “stock” is the biggest barrier to entry and growth in the watch industry.
It does sound like the new inhouse movement really will form the platform for Bremont for many years into the future, but will it be a British Watch or an English Watch?
Then some discussion on who is the best pilot Nick or Giles, no prizes for guessing who Nick suggested.
Then we talk price, we have not shied away from commenting on Bremonts pricing and to be fair to Nick he did not shy away from talking to us about it.
As is traditional for Scottish Watches we then talk Movies.
Kingsman and all things Tom Hardy.
A bit of a chat about other watches in Nicks collection and to finish a look at what is next for Bremont. I look forward to walking on those nice slippy floors of the new factory, where there is blame there is a claim.
Enjoy the Show
Got into the horological hobby only a couple of short years ago; but got, as us Scots like to say, “baw deep” pretty quickly. Thanks to buying a lemon of a Rolex he spent hours researching why his watch wasn’t working and along the way gained an interest in what makes them tick. He now runs the Scottish Watches website and keeps cohort Rick in check on the twice weekly Scottish Watches podcast.
