News : Scottish Watches First Collaboration Watch…No It Is Not This.

So the time has come for us all to take the “Kings Shilling” otherwise known in watch circles as doing a Hodinkee.

That point in any watch blog/podcast foundation story arc where the brave and gallant founders realise that for all the work they are putting into the world of high Horological entertainment, they actually also need to put some food on the table.

So we have followed the well-worn path, of commercial watch relationships, following like sheep led astray the likes of Hodinkee and Seiko, Revolution and IWC and in turn shunned the narrow path of purity, and independence from all watch brand influence, what is known as the “A Blog To Watch Path” and the purity of faith of Ariel Adams, it is just too great a burden for our scrawny Scottish shoulders to bear…we salute you, Ariel.

Anyway, so what do we have for you?

Well, first you will have to wait till Monday.

Listen to the Scottish Watches Podcast here

Yes, we know its April Fools day on Monday and we have already been accused of devious schemes.

It will therefore not be the  Scottish Moon watch (hunt around our podcast back catalogue for that discussion).

Though if Omega would like to make this, we are in.

A combination of both of us being away and needing to get the watch out before the Easter Schools break in this country has just meant that this is when it is coming, we will, however, be releasing the first image at 11.59 on Monday, just for fun, and to tease AP, who if you follow @scottishwatches on Instagram have all ready been quite brilliantly trolling us back, and giving us an idea for next year.

So we asked ourselves, who should we try and partner with, what company could we find to work with that would have something in common with us at Scottish Watches, what on earth do Scotland and Switzerland have in common?

Well, we have an “S” and and “land” in common, but that led us nowhere. (and a “t” don’t forget the t).

We have confectionary in common, great Swiss chocolate and Tunnocks Tea Cakes, that got us nowhere either, except to look at the extensive Space programs of both countries, yes we do both have Space programs, ours even involves Chocolate.

Then we hit on it, we have a common great sense of humour, we have Billy Connolly, Frankie Boyle, Kevin Bridges and Limmy the Swiss have, Fabian Unteregger, Emil Steinberger and Viktor Giacobbo,

sorted;

a way forward found we just had to find a watch brand that shared our sense of humour and work with them…

…and that is all you are getting for just now.

See you on Monday.
