Deal : Glycine Bronze Dive Watch – It’s Not All SIHH in January

Away from the 6 figure watches, flowing champagne and communal self back-patting going on in Geneve right now there is life elsewhere in watch land.

In a dark corner of the Horological internet lurks a site called Massdrop, not some sort of religious mic drop dance troupe but a discount site where brands involved in producing goods from watches to woks and blades to board games put limited numbers of items for sale at what appears to be large discounts.

Now setting aside the mechanics of how these sites work and the reality of the MRSP v the discount being offered, there are certainly from time to time items of all sorts that appear and are well worth a look at the advertised “discount” price.

Now I will not bore you with stories of buying fantastically discounted Jam jars and peelers for my burgeoning Homemade Jam Business but instead, I will point you to a deal which may well whet your appetite more than my tempting Apple and Blackcurrant Jam*

And where I would point you would be to this little Bronze number from Glycine.

James Porter and Son

The Glycine Combat Sub Bronze Automatic

At an MRSP of $1150, treat that with as much salt as you like, but the actual price is $419.99 so about £330** for a good sized good looking bronze diver that will certainly hold its own against the similarly specced competition such as the Christopher Ward Trident Bronze while being a good few quid cheaper.

42mm, Sapphire Crystal, 200m water resistant, good lume and in my opinion an attractive red seconds and what would appear to be a suitable sturdy strap.

I don’t own one of these but for the money, it is unlikely to be a bad buy, and just in case you are a giant you can also get it in 48mm.

So if you get one do let us know and write us a review or come on the podcast for a chat, hey its got to be worth the money just to get to chat to @rikkiwatches and me, I am sure you will agree.
