An embodiment of the fleeting nature of time.
The Tempus “fume it” – Limited Edition
Just a few weeks ago we launched the complete antithesis of timepieces with cluttered dials and unnecessary features, the Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept constitutes a philosophical reflection that was originally presented as a conceptual piece. The overwhelmingly positive reaction proved that there was a real need to return to the roots and very essence of watchmaking. By showcasing their famous fumé dial – the brand’s signature – with no embellishment, indices or logo, H. Moser & Cie. made the unprecedentedly minimal “Concept” aesthetic an integral part of the Endeavour collection’s identity and design language, placing the emphasis on luxury craftsmanship and the beauty of its expertise, often eclipsed by overbearing marketing, to remind us that behind a logo are people: talented watchmakers and dial specialists. And smokers.
The new “fuming” is the natural progression of the signature fume dial. H.Moser’s watchmakers have not stopped at having a smoked dial – as an expression of their watchmaking prowess they have miniaturized and perfected a mechanism so extraordinary, that it had to be launched today.
Nowadays, this resolutely minimalist aesthetic has become H. Moser & Cie.’s signature, along with their fumé dials in daring and surprising colours. Offering a completely new way of transmitting the time information to the wearer based on a combination of morse code and smoke signals, allows us to remove the hands completely. In a genius move.
Edouard Meylan, CEO of Moser Watches: “
“Inspired by the Latin inscription on so many watches, “Tempus fugit” (time flies) we couldn’t help ourselves and called this limited edition of our new line of smoking watches, the “Tempus Fume It”. With the push of a button the latest in vaping tech was integrated into the case to create a few short puffs of smoke emanating like magic out of the case. The way our latest addition to our concept stable embodies the fleeting nature of time, the puff of smoke that slowly dissipates, it’s extraordinary and has to be seen in person to be appreciated. This is the first and only watch that frees time from the boundaries of the case, for time to extend beyond the watch, to reach more senses, to let you play with the smoke signal for a brief moment in time, before it disappears…. But we did not stop there. Not only is time translated into tiny puffs of smoke, round and doughnut-shaped, for short and long in morse code, no, it’s also a feast for the senses. The little smoke signals have a very specific scent. Swiss cheese. Again, we couldn’t be satisfied with ordinary Appenzeller, so we cooperated with Jean Claude Biver’s very own farm. To recreate this cheese’s unique olfactory footprint in a puff of smoke that tells the time, is the crowning achievement of a minimalistic but overwhelming sensory overload – at the push of a button.”
